Several local farmers let us pick ripe vegetables for the area Food Bank, a process termed “Gleaning.” Usually the farm has already taken the produce they sell, leaving us with the lower items on the stalk (the Gleanings).
Generally we’re provided with back-bags, and we can walk the rows, pick the produce, and toss it over our shoulder into the bag. When the bag is full, we empty it into boxes that go onto a Food Bank truck.
Please call the Pastor to advise him if you are going to attend, and to get the specific location of the farm or a time and place where we will meet.
This is fun and it’s a blessing, but it does get quite warm! Bring lots of water, sun shield, a wide-brimmed hat, and perhaps gloves.
